📿 About Japa Meditation
What is Japa?
Japa is the meditative repetition of a mantra or divine name. The word comes from Sanskrit, meaning "to utter in a low voice, repeat internally." It is one of the most effective spiritual practices mentioned in the Vedas and Yoga Sutras.
Why 108 Repetitions?
The number 108 is sacred in Hinduism and Buddhism. There are 108 Upanishads, 108 sacred sites, and the distance between Earth and Sun is 108 times the Sun's diameter. A mala (rosary) has 108 beads plus a Sumeru (head) bead.
